Andhra Pradesh IT and Industries Minister Gudivada Amarnath today slammed opposition leader Chandrababu Naidu over the "misleading propaganda" on the rescue operations of by the State government during the recent Godavari floods.
Addressing the media in Visakhapatnam, the minister said that Naidu had done nothing for the Hud-Hud victims when he was CM, and had only indulged in publicity and empty promises.
"All Naidu did was release a GO, instead of actually helping the people. He never provided any sort of immediate relief during such calamities, merely distributing stale pulihora and 10 kg rice to the victims," Amarnath said.
He dared Naidu to give details of the funds collected during the cyclone, and what happened to the funds.
"The YSRC government is putting in its best efforts to reach out to the victims of the floods. But Naidu is just criticizing the government instead of helping the people out there," the minister said.
The minister also slammed the opposition for "misleading" the people by "fabricating" numbers about the State's borrowings, and said that the current government had borrowed only Rs 1.15 lakh crore, which was much less than the borrowings during the TDP rule.
He said that Naidu had been falsely alleging that the government had borrowed over Rs 8 lakh crore, while in reality as per the CAG Report the debt was only Rs 1.15 lakh.
He added that over Rs 1.65 lakh crore was spent in the last three years on public welfare. He also said that the YSRCP rule was of DBT governance, where every scheme was implemented in a transparent manner, while the TDP government had only focused on "DPT" (dochukovadam, panchukovadam, thinadam).
