Andhra's fish is popular in Assam, and reportedly has a huge demand in the north-eastern state.
"The import of fish from Andhra Pradesh is high as it is tasty and of good quality," said Assam State Cooperative Minister Siddique Ahmed.
He was in the city, and went to see the tanks and fish markets in town. Ahmed is also the chairman of the Fishermen's Association.
"Fish of Andhra Pradesh is very popular in Assam. Middlemen are also in plenty, and are cutting into the fishermen's income," he said, "Our government has decided to buy fish from Andhra Pradesh directly, and the purpose of my visit is to ensure that," he said. (INN)
