Home Minister P Sabitha Indra Reddy, on Friday, admitted that there was a rise in the cases of kidnapping of children in the state.
Replying to a question raised by Praja Rajyam Party MLAs B Satyananda Rao and V Vanga Geetha during Question Hour in the state Legislative Assembly, the minister said that as many as 2110 children have been kidnapped in AP. Of them, the police have rescued 2,068 children so far.
The minister said that the cases were being registered, and investigated thoroughly under the supervision of senior officers. Case-wise special teams were formed to rescue the kidnapped children.
She said that awareness programs were being taken up. School managements and parents were being requested to verify the antecedents of auto drivers and school bus drivers.
The managements of schools are also being instructed not to permit or allow strangers into their school premises, she said. (INN)
This is very bad. Some NRI's are not returning to India and this is one of the main reason. People kidnap the children to extract the money. They think NRI's are rich and they can pay more money.
