The former constable, KV Giri Prasad Sharma, who threatened to expose large-scale irregularities in the Police Transport Organisation, was arrested by the city police on Monday.
Sarma was dismissed when he had allegedly kidnapped PTO Superintendent Lakshminarayana on September 12 and held him hostage at Adarshnagar in Saifabad for a few hours.
However, on October 14, he came out with a CD claiming that there was no kidnapping and he was sitting with the SP over liquor. He also released the CD in which the Superintendent was seen drinking with him and discussing removing his name from a Lokayukta case which he had filed.
Sarma had alleged that some senior officials in the organisation were involved in embezzlement of funds. He even claimed that he possesses a series of CDs to prove his allegations. He was also planning to take out a motorcycle rally in the city. He demanded lifting of his suspension and a thorough probe into the irregularities in the PTO.
However, Sarma was arrested by the police on Monday and produced before a criminal court at Nampally. The court has remanded him to judicial custody for 14 days. He was later shifted to Chanchalguda Central Prison. (INN)
