Former State Road Transport Corporation Chairman Gone Prakash Rao on Sunday questioned why Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar was seeking the support of Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) and Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) if he was so sure that he had the requisite numbers to continue as the head of government till 2014.
Talking to media persons here, the staunch loyalist of former Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy said that the Chief Minister's words that his government was not at the mercy of Jaganmohan Reddy were in contradiction to his actions of seeking support of PRP leader K Chiranjeevi and MIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi.
"Kiran Kumar Reddy's statements daring Jaganmohan Reddy to pull down his government are false bravado, and they ring hollow," Prakash Rao said.
Prakash Rao further dared the Chief Minister to resign from his assembly seat and contest in the by-elections without using the name of former Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy. He said that Kiran Kumar Reddy would then find out how valuable YSR's name was.
Prakash Rao also challenged the Chief Minister to conduct local bodies elections. "The people of the state will not forgive the Congress leaders for their utterances against YSR and will teach them a fitting lesson in the elections", he pointed out.
The former RTC Chairman stated that the Congress leaders had no moral right to criticize YSR and his family members. Instead of showing gratitude to the people who brought the party to power in the state twice, the Congress leaders were trying to nip Jaganmohan Reddy's political career in the bud, he stated.
Prakash Rao also reminded that the 125-year old Congress was first split by former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
