Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths, on Tuesday, caught a Panchayat Raj Assistant Executive Engineer red-handed while taking bribe of Rs. 1 lakh, at Uppal.

According to ACB officials, the Assistant Engineer was identified as Shaik Ahmed, a resident of Nalgonda district. He was caught while accepting a bribe for doing the official favour of recording the details of road works executed by the complainant in the measurements books and forwarding the same for payment of bills to the tune of Rs. 36 lakh.

The bribe amount of Rs. 1 lakh was recovered from the official's trouser pockets. The relevant measurement books were found in the house of the accused.

Ahmed is being arrested, and will be produced before the additional special judge for SPE and ACB Cases, Hyderabad.

The case is under investigation.
