After Etela Rajender did the same a few days back, another Telangana minister, T Harish Rao, today expressed concern that there was no cash in banks and ATMs across the state causing a lot of inconvenience to the farmers and other people.
Things had now come to such a pass that the farmers in the entire state were planning to resort to protests at the banks and ATMs to get their money, he said.
Launching a DCCB (District Central Cooperative Bank) branch at Siddipet, Rao said that the farmers, who used to stage protests for seeds, fertilizers and power supply during the previous Congress rule, were now feeling the need to do so at the banks for getting their cash.
He urged Union Labour and Employment Minister Bandaru Dattatreya to take up the issue with the Centre and the RBI, and resolve the long-standing problem.
Rao also said that the TRS government had kept its promise of giving 9-hour power supply to the agriculture sector, and that plans were on to increase it to 24 hours in the future. For its part, the Centre, he said, needed to increase the minimum support price to paddy, cotton and maize, to help the farmers.
