Telangana BJP president G Kishan Reddy on Tuesday strongly condemned the statement of MIM President and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi wherein the latter criticised the conferring of the Bharat Ratna upon Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
"His irresponsible statements are highly provocative and obnoxious. It is unfortunate that an MP of the Lok Sabha so blatantly attempts to desecrate the Constitution of India. His criticism, which came after the President of India conferred the Bharat Ratna on Atal Behari Vajpayee and the Padma Vibhushan on L K Advani, is tantamount to the lampooning of the highest constitutional authority of the nation. His comments warrant immediate action, and he should be immediately expelled from the Lok Sabha and his membership annulled," Reddy said in his letter.
Listing out the services of Vajpayee and Advani for the country, he said that they did not need a certificate from "a hate-monger like Asaduddin Owaisi."
"Asaduddin Owaisi believes in communal politics and has been perpetuating the policies of his mentor Khasim Razvi, who was responsible for the horrendous massacre of innocent people during the Nizam period in Telangana. The 120 crore Indians evidence the integrity of the individuals and they all feel proud that Sri Atalji and Sri Advaniji have been conferred upon the awards that they richly deserve," Reddy said.
The Telangana BJP chief alleged that the continuous use of "abusive language" of Asaduddin Owaisi against a section of people, their beliefs and their sentiments, and his continuous abuse of the Indian constitution and the various institutions of the Indian polity, warranted stringent action.
"It is in this context that the Telangana unit of the BJP appeals for disciplinary proceedings against Asaduddin Owaisi, for violating the very constitution which he swore to protect," Reddy said, requesting the President to advise the Lok Sabha Speaker to annul the membership of Asaduddin Owaisi.
