Telangana leader Nagam Janardhan Reddy on Saturday called upon the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) to announce a pro-Telangana stand at its annual event Mahanadu.
Nagam stated that the people of Telangana would help the TDP overthrow the Congress if party President N Chandrababu Naidu pledges his support for the cause of the Telangana statehood.
He also questioned the TDP as to why it was dragging its feet over writing to Home Minister P Chidambaram about the Telangana issue when it had readily contacted Union Minister Pranab Mukherjee about the same.
Nagam also charged that the TDP had unnecessarily "roughed up" Osmania University students at the Mahanadu on Friday evening.
Meanwhile, the suspended TDP leader has reportedly kept himself busy by addressing 28-page letters to all the MLAs, MPs and MLCs supporting the Samaikya Andhra demand. According to sources, the letters explain the alleged injustice meted out to the people of Telangana.
He also lamented that the Gentlemen's Agreement between Telangana and Andhra (which does not allow an non-T resident to purchase land in the region) was largely ignored.
"Let's separate like brothers and compete with each other for development," Nagam is reported to have said.
Speaking of his suspension from the TDP, the Telangana leader charged that Naidu did not give freedom to those belonging to the T region, and that the Telangana issue was the only bone of contention between himself and the TDP President.
