The Andhra Pradesh government is planning to launch 1,000 medical shops across the State where generic medicines will be sold at discounts of nearly 25%.
Speaking to media persons at the State Secretariat, the A P Health Minister Kamineni Srinivas said that the file pertaining to the setting up of the medical shops was pending with Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu for final approval.
Once approved, the medical shops, along with district-level stock depots, would be set up in 91 days.
The minister also informed that two Super Specialty Hospitals had been sanctioned for the State as per the AP Reorganisation Act, and as a follow-up action, the government had identified land for one hospital in Anantapur, and would complete the land identification process in Vijayawada in the next week for the other.
He said that six Super Specialty hospitals would be established at different places on the lines of VIMS.
The government had also sanctioned Rs 80 crores for the promotion of District and Area hospitals by introducing super-speciality facilities.
Srinivas said that the government proposed to increase revenue from Arogyasri cases from the present 30% to 50%.
The minister also announced that the Employees Health Cards would be issued on October 30, and that they would be operational from November 1. Similarly, the Journalists' Health Cards would become operational from December 1. (INN)
