Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has claimed that Andhra Pradesh will become a drought-free State by 2019.
Speaking to media persons, Naidu said that the construction of the new capital too would be completed by 2019.
He said that the region around Vijayawada had been selected for the new capital due to its centralised location and better connectivity with other parts of the State.
He said that Andhra Pradesh would be in the forefront of the development of the country, and would be counted amongst the three most developed States of India by 2025.
The Chief Minister also informed that the modernisation of the Vijayawada Airport would be completed in the next six months.
The construction of important buildings required for the new capital was being given top priority, he said. (INN)
