On Thursday, Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy asked the APSRTC authorities to chalk out plans to garner revenue from all possible sources by making optimum use of their commercial properties like the bus depots and the stations.
The CM asked the RTC officials to increase revenue by plying buses on time and by differentiating the profit-making routes in the state from the ones that result in losses.
The Chief Minister reviewed several issues pertaining to the APSRTC, particularly issues like the opening of bus stations, maintenance of bus depots and plying of buses on time, with ministers and officials at the Secretariat.
The Chief Minister also asked the RTC officials to immediately start the operation of satellite bus depots, and bus statiosn in place like like Bheemgal, B.Kothakota and Narsapur where there is a heavy demand for them.
He asked the RTC to start more buses through these places and, to post traffic controllers and inspectors for regulating the running of these buses.
Officials informed that there are 213 APSRTC bus depots in 23 regions under 7 zones in the state. There are now 777 bus stations and 1881 bus shelters and 7763 bus routes.
There are 1,23,871 employees on the rolls now. Officials said that periodic increase in the prices of diesell has putting a big burden on the APSRTC.
The Chief Minister assured funds from the state government will be allocated to APSRTC after a study of the fare concession structure of the RTC, and after the calculation of the tax payments that RTC still has to make to the state government. (INN)
