Telangana Minister for Transport Puvvada Ajay Kumar today said that the State was facing the inundation problems due to the height of the Polavaram project located in Andhra Pradesh.
Speaking to the media on Tuesday, the minister said that due to the increase in the height of the Polavaram project being constructed across the Godavari river, the water level of the river in Bhadrachalam was moving up slowly, resulting in the inundation of many habitations in Telangana.
He said that the issue of reducing the height of the project had already been brought up with Andhra Pradesh CM Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, and that the Telangana government was frequently reminding the AP government about it.
Speaking about the rehabilitation of the flood-affected people in Bhadrachalam, the minister said that the rehabilitation centres set up would continue with all the necessary amenities, and that the government would chalk out an action plan for the construction of permanent houses once normalcy was restored.
