Court Rejects Plea For CBI Probe Against Jana
Andhra Pradesh High Court dismisses social activist V V Rao's petition for initiating a CBI probe into the assets of Panchayat Raj minister K Jana Reddy.
Bringing huge relief to Panchayat Raj minister K Jana Reddy, the Andhra Pradesh High Court, on Monday, dismissed a petition that sought a CBI probe into the minister's assets.
Stating that the petition did not qualify for hearing, the High Court not only dismissed it, but also imposed a fine of Rs. 10,000 on the petitioner, V V Rao, who had sought the probe under the Prevention of Corruption Act and the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.
It may be mentioned that an earlier petition lodged by social activist V V Rao seeking joint probe by the CBI, the Enforcement Directorate and the Income Tax Department into Jana Reddy's assets had also been dismissed by the court. (INN)
