State GDP Rising: KTR
Taraka Rama Rao accuses Rosaiah of hurting the sentiments of Telangana through false comments on how AP's growth is being hampered because of T-agitations.
Sircilla MLA K Taraka Rama Rao (KTR), on Tuesday, accused Chief Minister K Rosaiah of hurting the sentiments of all Telangana protagonists by saying that the growth of the state has been hampered due to the Telangana agitations for separate statehood.
Talking to media persons at the Telangana Bhavan, the TRS leader said that Rosaiah had hurt the feelings of Telangana people by making statements contrary to the facts.
KTR said that the state had witnessed an increase of 1.85% in GDP even at the height of the Telangana agitations in December 2009 and January 2010. This, KTR said, was higher than the GDP during the reign of former chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy.
KTR revealed that the state had generated revenues of Rs. 55,548 crores during the past year, an increase of Rs. 4,700 crores.
The MLA expressed bewilderment at Rosaiah's statement made earlier in the day that investors are leaving the state due to the unrest over the Telangana issue.
The Sircilla MLA said that facts prove that the investors were leaving from Seemandhra regions and not Telangana. He cited the example of Tata Motors, who chose Gujarat over Andhra Pradesh for setting up the company's car production unit.
KTR said that the government owes an explanation to the people of the state as to why investors were not keen to come to the state.
The TRS leader hinted that the reluctance of investors to come to the state was not due to the political unrest over Telangana, but due to the indifferent attitude of the government and the tussle for power following the tragic death of YSR.
KTR also said that no true integrationist had made his representations before the Srikrishna Commission. He elaborated that only businessmen in the guise of politicians had made their representations.
