Chief electoral officer, Bhanwar Lal, on Monday, clarified that the SMS search facility provided by the state CEO to give the voter-ID card's status had failed to function temporarily on Sunday only due to a minor technical snag.
He said, in a statement, that the technical snag had occurred in the process of online linkage of the huge voter data with the service provider, leading to the temporary failure of the SMS system for a few hours. However, the snag was set right at the earliest and the system is fully functional now.
As occurs in the statement, "Voters can now send SMSes to 9246280027, as usual, for receiving information on the status of their voter-ID card.
"To search for your name and polling booth, type "VOTE" and send it to 9246280027. Then, you will get a return SMS with details of your name, house address, assembly constituency name and number, polling booth address and location."
He said that the voters could also dial up the ECI call centre no. 1950 which operates on a 24x7 basis, and that they could also email to the CEO's office - in case of emergencies and other such temporary failures of the SMS system. (INN)
