Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao, on Saturday, completely ruled out the possibilities of his party having an alliance with the Congress in ensuing elections.
Addressing the party workers at Telangana Bhavan, KCR said that the TRS had always worked as per the wishes of the people of Telangana.
"The people of Telangana are against the TRS merger with the Congress. Therefore, the TRS will contest the next elections alone," announced KCR.
He also ridiculed the Congress' claim that many TRS MLAs were willing to join the Congress party. "Let's see from tomorrow whether TRS MLAs join the Congress or the reverse happens."
KCR strongly condemned the remarks of AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh wherein the latter had accused him of betrayal. Without naming Digvijay Singh, he asked the Congress leaders to explain what the nature of this betrayal was.
"I initially accepted the proposal for merger so as to stop the students from taking extreme steps, like suicides, for the cause of statehood, and to pressurise the Congress to initiate the process of Telangana formation," he said. (INN)
