All arrangements are in place for the biennial Sammakka-Saralamma fair, popularly known as the Medaram Jatara, scheduled to begin at Medaram village of Tadwai mandal in Mulugu district tomorrow (Wednesday).
On the first day, the local deities Saralamma from Kannepalli, Pagiddaraju from Poonugundla village of Kothaguda mandal and Govindaraju from Kondai village of Tadwai mandal will be brought to the temple.
On the second day, Goddess Sammakka will be brought from Chilukalagutta and installed according to the adivasi rituals.
On the third day devotees will offer prayers to the deities, and on the next day the gods will return to the forest according to the adivasi rituals.
Ministers Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, Ponnam Prabhakar, Konda Surekha and Dansari Anasuya have already visited Medaram and reviewed the arrangements, including the ticket-issuing counters, bus parking points and queue railings spanning 55 acres.
DGP Ravi Gupta also instructed the officials to ensure foolproof arrangements for the next four days of the festival.
Meanwhile, over 50 lakh devotees visited the temple of the tribal goddesses Sammakka and Saralamma during the last one month, and over one crore devotees are expected to attend in the days to come.
