As some 1.4 lakh autorickshaws in Hyderabad were operating in an unsafe and haphazard manner without adequate documentation and drivers without licenses, and with some drivers also misbehaving with passengers by charging undue fares and aiding unlawful activities, the Hyderabad Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar today notified that all owners/drivers of autos and other vehicles of this category needed to register themselves with the Hyderabad traffic police and carry the requisite documents.
The Commissioner said that all autorickshaw owners who were desirous of operating in the jurisdiction of the Hyderabad commissionerate would need to apply for the registration of the drivers and owners in the format specified, along with valid documents - the proofs of identification and address of the owners and the drivers, the RCs of the vehicles, and the driving licenses of the drivers.
They will also need to stick QR-coded UV printed boards, and QR-coded front stickers and back stickers issued to them, in places visible to the passengers sitting in the rear seats, at all times.
This registration will be valid for a period of one year or until the documents are valid, whichever is earlier, and upon expiry the owners need to apply for renewal.
Vehicles which violate these rules will be liable for action under the Hyderabad City Police Act and the relevant provisions of the IPC and the M V Act.
The application / registration process starts from 17-01-2019.
