Mohammed Ahmed, father of undertrial Viqar Ahmed who was killed along with four others in a police encounter near Alair of the Nalgonda district on April 7, has approached the High Court seeking a probe into the encounter.
In his petition filed on Wednesday, Ahmed alleged that his son Viqar and four others - Syed Amjed, Mohd Zakir, Mohd Haneef and Izhar Khan - were killed by the police in a fake encounter while they were being brought to the Nampally court from the Warangal jail.
He requested the High Court to order an independent and high-level probe into the killing of those five undertrials.
It may be mentioned that the state government, on April 13, had constituted a six-member Special Investigation Team (SIT), headed by senior IPS officer Sandeep Shandilya, to undertake a thorough investigation into the encounter.
Viqar's father and several Muslim organisations and also political parties have been demanding a CBI probe into the encounter which they claim is fake. (INN)
