Owaisi Acted Against Islam: Says BJP
State Unit president G Kishan Reddy said that Islam and the Holy Quran never preached hatred, and by resorting to hate speeches, Akbaruddin had violated all the set principles.
The Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday accused Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen leaders of acting against the principles of Islam by hurting the sentiments of followers of other religion through their speeches.
Addressing a press conference at the State BJP Headquarters at Nampally, State Unit president G Kishan Reddy said that Islam and the Holy Quran never preached hatred, and by resorting to hate speeches, Akbaruddin had violated all the set principles.
Kishan Reddy also condemned the way Akbaruddin Owaisi was arrested by the police on Tuesday. He said that it was not duty of the police to check whether the MIM leader was fit to be arrested or not. He said that Akbar should have been first arrested and produced before a magistrate, and then, based on the court's directions, he could have been referred to a hospital. However, he alleged that the MIM had enacted a "political drama" at the Gandhi Hospital in connivance with the Congress government.
The BJP leader claimed that members of all communities, including Muslims, were feeling relieved after the arrest of Akbaruddin Owaisi for making hate speeches. He demanded that the MIM leader be given stern punishment for making provocative speeches.
He also demanded that Akbaruddin Owaisi be disqualified as the member of Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly. (INN)
