With the end of the Parliament elections and the local body elections to be held in a few months, the All India Congress Committee (AICC) has speeded up its process of selecting a new Telangana PCC chief.
As the current TPCC chief Revanth Reddy's tenure is coming to an end in early July, the Congress high command is focusing on the selection of a new president.
With Reddy taking over as the Telangana Chief Minister, he is now burdened with both governance and party affairs. And since the Congress anyway has a one-person-one-post policy, the AICC has started its exercise for the selection of the next TPCC chief.
As part of this, the party high command has issued instructions to the key leaders of the Telangana Congress to be available in New Delhi.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, who has been camping in New Delhi for the last four days, has already discussed the issue with AICC Telangana in-charge Deepa Dasmunsi and other senior leaders. Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, who is currently on a visit to Khammam district, has cancelled his visit and left for Delhi after being summoned by the AICC.
Many ministers are also in Delhi.
Meanwhile, many aspirants have started lobbying using their contacts. They are meeting several top leaders of the AICC and urging them to consider them for the post.
As the post of the Chief Minister is with the Reddy community, the party high command is reportedly planning to give the post of TPCC chief to a backward class leader.
BC leaders MLC Mahesh Kumar Goud and former MP Madhu Yashki Goud, minister Seethakka, Jagga Reddy and Rajagopal Reddy are said to be in the race for the post.
Mahesh Kumar Goud and Madhu Yashki Goud have already camped in New Delhi and met Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi, requesting that their respective names be considered for the post.
With the AICC speeding up its exercise, there is a lot of excitement over who will be the new boss of the Congress in Telangana.
