Film actor Raja apparently attempted suicide because he was depressed over the negligence of the film industry towards small budget films. He went to the State Human Rights Commission stating that his latest film Inkosari was not screened in enough theatres, and that small budget films should be accorded some protection from the monopoly of the big players
In his opinion the government must step in to allot specific theatres for small budget movies, and has asked the state commission to enforce the Monopolies And Restrictive Trade Practices (MRTP) Act.
Raja's life is out of danger, though - he had visited hospital for a stomach wash after taking in some sleeping pills.
