On a tip-off that Jagadishwar Reddy, Chief Engineer of Andhra Pradesh Education Welfare and Infrastructure Development Corporation, had amassed movable and immovable properties worth over Rs 100 crores through corrupt practices, officials of the Anti-Corruption Bureau conducted simultaneous raids on his houses in Hyderabad and 11 other places, including Vijayawada, Suryapet, Mahabubnagar and Chennai.
Finding a prima facie case, the ACB officials arrested Reddy immediately.
During the searches on his residences, the sleuths have detected tainted properties worth over Rs 16 crores so far, which include real estate in Chennai, and huge quantities of gold and silver articles. His bank lockers are yet to be opened, and raids are going on.
They said that after the completion of the raids, the final value of his identified properties may exceed Rs 100 crores, which is hugely disproportionate to his known sources of income.
The ACB's raids on Jagadishwar Reddy's house come closely on the heels of the arrest of another AP Engineer-in-Chief Gangadharam, who was discovered to have nearly Rs 130 crores in properties.
The sleuths have seized documents related to Rs 16 crore worth properties,
