Telugu cine actress Aarti Agarwal died of a heart attack on Saturday at New Jersey in the USA. She was 31.
Her manager Uma Sankar said that Agarwal had died due to the side-effects of treatment (liposuction) that she had undergone a day earlier for obesity. She suffered a cardiac arrest some hours after the treatment, and died at around 12 noon (IST) in New Jersey, where she had been residing of late.
Agarwal had acted in nearly 25 movies, and had worked with all the top stars of Tollywood including Chiranjeevi, Venkatesh, Nagarjuna, Mahesh, Prabhas and NTR Jr. Her career started slumping after her alleged love affair with a young star, and she is said to have tried to even commit suicide by consuming a toilet cleaner.
Her drunken brawls in pubs too contributed to her downfall.
While her first film was in Hindi (Pagalpan made by Rakesh Nath starring his son), it was her second film and first Telugu film with Venkatesh
Nuvvu Naaku Nachchaav, a super hit, that catapulted her into the big league. She featured in a series of Telugu hits after that, and had also acted in a few Tamil, Hindi and Malayalam movies.
She quit acting after getting married to an NRI Ujwal Kumar, a Gujarati NRI, but that marriage ended in a divorce in two years, and she was trying to revive her career at the time of the tragedy. She was acting in a movie called Neelaveni, and another called Ranam 2 had released just last Friday. (NSS)
