In a major rescue operation headed by the State Anti Human Trafficking Module Women Safety Wing, 26 children were rescued and eight traffickers arrested at the Secunderabad railway station.
Teams from GRP and RPF Secunderabad, along with an NGO Bachpan Bachao Andolan, participated in the operation conducted on Wednesday night.
Upon receipt of information that children aged between 13 and 18, hailing from West Bengal and Jharkand, were travelling with the traffickers on the East Coast Express en route Vijayawada to Secunderabad, the rescue operation was carried out at 10:25 am.
The traffickers were identified as principal accused Ramjan Molla, 19, native of 24 Paraganas of West Bengal; A-2 Sekh Saidul, 27, goldsmith working at Gulzar House, Charminar, and native of Barddhaman of West Bengal; A-3 Pintu Das, 30, agriculturist, residing at Rajdhanwar, Giridih, Jharkhand; A-4 Susen Tudu, 37, gold worker, from Charminar; A-5 Priyarul Sekh, 20, hotel worker in Barbeque Spice at Jubilee Hills, and resident of Balibanga, West Bengal; A-6 S K Jakir Ali, 24, gold worker, native of Bankura of West Bengal; A-7 Abdul Alamin Mondel, 30, tailor at Charminar; and A-8 Surojit Santra, 32, plywood worker, residing at City College, Hyderabad, and native of Howrah, West Bengal.
The accused confessed that they were bringing the children to work as labourers.
A case has been registered at the GRP Police Station, Secunderabad. The children have been produced before the Chid Welfare Commttee, which directed the police to provide them shelter at the Government Home for Boys at Saidabad.
