The state government on Tuesday promoted 67 DSPs as Additional SPs.
The promotions were given in view of the vacancies of Additional SPs in many of the districts, since the state police administration has reduced the eligibility of service from 5 years to 3-and-a-half years.
According to Additional DGP (Law and Order) and spokesperson S A Huda, departmental selections were conducted and court cases cleared so that the posts of Addl. SPs could be filled up duly promoting the deserving DSP candidates.
This was aimed at boosting their morale, and also to encourage the discouraged, he said.
The promotions will also encourage the police force, by way of ensuring their due promotions in time, he said. (INN)
