Sleuths of the West Zone task force nabbed 5 persons who had leaked the question papers for the exam to the post of Assistant Administrative Officer in LIC.
Sleuths of the West Zone task force on Sunday took 5 persons into custody for leaking the question papers of an all-India Examination for the post of LIC's AAO (Assistant Administrative Officer) recruitment exams.
In doing so, the task force sleuths busted a major inter-state racket which leaked the question papers for money. The examination was scheduled to be held on Sunday, and has been postponed.
Question papers, 6 mobile phones and net cash of Rs. 6,000 were recovered from the possession of the arrested accused.
The accused have been identified as Yogeshwar Kumar Rao, a teacher of the Uchcha Prathamik Vidyalay, Nasrathpur, Ghazipur in Uttar Pradesh; Palvai Ashok Kumar, a car driver; Beesabathuni Anna Rao, a supervisor in Celebrity Club, Begumpet; Perla Srinivas, a technician at the Wagon work shop, Guntupally, Ibrahimpatnam; and Gudla Srinivas, a sales officer in Bio Fertilisers, Tadepalligudem.
Explaining the modus operandi of the gang, the police said that the prime accused in the case, Yogeshwar used to get the question papers from the press where they were printed. He then passed them on to his agents.
The agents then went around coaching centers in search of prospective candidates who were appearing for the examinations. They established contact with the candidates who are in desperate need of jobs.
After contact was made, they withheld the original certificates of the candidates till the payment of the money.
For posts like AAO in LIC, they used to collect Rs. 7 lakhs from each candidate.
One day prior to examination they will provide question paper to them and keep them in a secluded place. After appearing in the examination, candidates had to pay Rs. 1 lakh, and Rs. 6 lakhs after the final selection.
On a tip off, the West Zone task force conducted raid at the house of Palvai Ashok Kumar at Gandhi Nagar, and apprehended the accused.
The police also tallied the seized question paper of the all-India examination for the post of AAO of LIC with the original question paper with the help of Dy General Manager of Edcil (India) Ltd, Shaik Suleman. Dr. Suleman is the incharge for conducting the exam in Hyderabad. The question papers were found to be the same.
The arrested accused persons, along with seized material, were handed over to SHO, Central Crime Station, Hyderabad for necessary action.
