Information Technology Minister K Tarakarama Rao on Wednesday promised that the State Government would provide a 33% quota for women in the recruitments for the police services.
Speaking after inaugurating the IT Corridor and Women's Police Stations, KTR said that the government would provide a quota of 33% for women in all the recruitment drives to be taken up for police services.
He also announced that one Women's Police Station would be set up in the IT region of Adibatla.
He also praised the launch of the software "Fight Back" that automatically sends SMSs to five mobile numbers in case of emergencies.
He advised that the software be updated to ensure that it provided the location of the sender. He also asked the developers to link the same to Truecaller.
Stating that the government was spending Rs 350 crores for the modernisation of the police force, KTR requested the police personnel to change their behaviour and approach towards the people. He said that besides a structural change, the police force also needed to go through a behavioral change.
He stated that the State Government aimed to make Hyderabad a safer and smarter city.
Transport Minister P Mahender Reddy announced that 15 new buses would be provided to the Cyberabad Police to enable the personnel to conveniently reach interior areas with ease.
Telangana DGP Anurag Sharma informed that one woman counsellor would be appointed in all the police stations in the State.
He also stressed on the need for providing soft skills to the police personnel.
