The Central Bureau Of Investigation found 30 kilograms of gold and Rs. 3 crore in cash during its raids of former Karanataka Minister Gali Janardhan Reddy's house.
Talking to media persons on Monday, CBI Joint Director V V Lakshminarayana said that the CBI has filed cases against the former Karnataka minister Janardhan Reddy and Obalapuram Mining Corporation Managing Director B V Srinivasa Reddy, who were both arrested under the Prevention of Corruption Act, Forest, Mines & Minerals Act.
He said that a 15-member CBI team from Hyderabad conducted searches at Janardhan Reddy's house and made important seizures.
A sum of Rs. 1.5 crore was also seized from the residence of Reddy's brother-in-law Srinivasa Reddy, who is also the Managing Director of the Obulapuram Mining Corporation.
The team also questioned Aruna Lakshmi, wife of Janardhana Reddy in Bellary and his Bangalore residence was also searched simultaneously.
So far, the CBI has questioned 85 suspects in connection with the illegal iron ore mining cases. The investigating agency has also seized 1,530 key documents, and a total of 112 iron ore samples have been examined. (INN)
