Shankar Rao alleges that over 3 lakh files are pending with the CM's office, a claim that the CMO debunks.
Former minister Dr. P Shankar Rao, on Monday, alleged that over 3 lakh files are pending with Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy.
Talking to media persons at the Congress Legislature Party Office, Shankar Rao alleged that the administration in the state has come to a halt due to the CM's style of functioning.
Stating that about 3 lakh files were pending with the CM's office, he demanded that Kiran Kumar Reddy respond to the pending files immediately, as not doing so would damage the image of party and the government in the ensuing by-elections.
Holding the Chief Minister and his peshi responsible for the pending files, he said that he suspected that other departments, too, function the same way. He said that a file relating to the establishment of medical colleges, which was cleared by Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, was also gathering dust in Kiran Kumar Reddy's office.
Asking the government to provide an explanation over the pending files, he asked the CM to take action against officials responsible for the delay in clearing the files. He also raised concerns over the pleas of elected representatives, on various issues, that are pending at the CM's peshi. (INN)
However, the Chief Minister's Office immediately dismissed the reports. In a press release, the CMO said that a section of media has been publishing baseless stories without verifying facts with the office concerned.
According to the CMO, it has received 13,000 files since January 2011, and cleared more than 12,000 files - which is over 92%. However, some files related to legal complications, and a few that need departmental probe, are pending with the Chief Minister's Office, it said.
The CMO said that files relating to people's problems and policy matters, which need urgent attention, were being cleared on a day-to-day basis, after consultations with the officials concerned.
"There is no question of delay in clearing the files. About 90-925 of files have been disposed off in a speedy manner," the CMO said. (INN)
