29,484 Booked For Drunken Driving In City In 2018
5,441 were imprisoned, the driving licenses of 1,424 were permanently cancelled / suspended, and Rs 5,88,99,500 in fines was collected from the remaining 25,959.

The Hyderabad Traffic Police has been continuing its drive against drunken drivers to ensure road safety. During the year 2018, cases were booked against 29,484 drunken drivers, including 191 women. 27,383 chargesheets were filed against them, and the offenders were produced in the III and IV Metropolitan Magistrate Courts, Nampally, which awarded imprisonment to 5,441 and permanently cancelled / suspended the driving licenses of 1,424 persons. The courts realized a fine amount of Rs 5,88,99,500 from the remaining 25,959 traffic violators.
All the people who were sentenced to imprisonment were sent to the Chanchalguda jail. The convicts were also counselled at TTI, Goshamahal and Begumpet.
In the year 2017, 20,811 cases were booked, 4,015 were convicted and 203 driving licenses were suspended.
The drive against the drunken driving and other violations will continue for the safety of the commuters on road.
