Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav today said that 25 more Basthi Dawakhanas (local hospitals) would be opened in Hyderabad on August 14.
Ministers K T Rama Rao, E Rajender, Mahmood Ali and Sabitha Indra Reddy, and Hyderabad Mayor B Rammohan, would attend the program, he said.
18 of the Dawakhanas would be in Hyderabad, 6 would be in Medchal, and 2 would be in Ranga Reddy district, he added.
The minister said that the government had so far set up 95 Basthi Dawakhanas in various places in the city, and the total figure was 170 if the ones in the nearby districts were included.
The current Basthi Dawakhanas in the city served 14,000 patients per day, and the new ones would offer healthcare services to 2,000 more patients each day, Yadav added.
The minister also added that there were 85 primary health centres in various locations in Hyderabad as of now.
He said that steps were being taken by the government to offer all necessary facilities and infrastructure in these hospitals and centres. These hospitals would ensure complete healthcare facilities to the local communities, he claimed.
