Giving a major jolt to the Congress party in the state, former PCC President and ex-MP K Keshava Rao, and 3 Telangana Congress MPs - G Vivek, Manda Jagannadham and S Rajaiah - have decided to join the Telangana Rashtra Samithi.
According to sources, their formal exit from the Congress and official entry into the TRS will be carried out at a massive public meeting to be held at Nizam College Grounds, Hyderabad, on June 2. K Keshava Rao will also join the TRS on June 2.
It may be mentioned here that the first three Congress MPs had earlier
threatened to quit the party if the Congress High Command fails to announce its stand on the Telangana statehood issue by May 30.
However, the MPs were forced to take an early decision, following clear signals from the High Command that it was not in a position to take any decisive move on the Telangana issue.
Further, the Congress not only ignored their threat, PCC President Botsa Satyanarayana also went to the extent of saying that those willing to quit the party are free to do so.
The MPs were also reportedly hurt when they were completely ignored by Congress president Sonia Gandhi, at a recent dinner hosted by Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh at Delhi, on the occasion of the completion of 9 years of the UPA government's rule.
Sources say that some more top leaders (who hail from the Telangana region) of Congress and TDP might join the TRS in the near future. (INN)
