The Hyderabad Traffic Police is continuing its drive against drunken drivers to ensure road safety.
In April 2019, the cops caught 2,282 drivers who were driving vehicles in an inebriated condition. Chargesheets were filed against them, and they were produced in the III and IV Metropolitan Magistrate Courts, Nampally.
The courts awarded imprisonment to 498 offenders, and cancelled/suspended the driving licenses of 167. The courts also imposed fines aggregating Rs 49,64,400 against the traffic violators.
All the violators sentenced to imprisonment were sent to the Chanchalguda jail.
