The unusually hot summer has become a cause of concern, with 14 people in the Kurnool district losing their lives to sunstroke so far.
Those residing in the urban areas of the district have taken to setting out for their workplaces or educational institutions by 9am, as the the weather becomes unbearably hot soon, reaching a sizzling high by 10am.
Employees and students leave the safety of their institutions only after the sun begins its descent.
Those who commute from the rural to the urban areas of the district every day are the worst affected, as they are forced to bear the heat for longer periods of time, and the condition of farm labourers is pitiable as well.
The residents of Kurnool lament the fact that they are unable to stir out of their houses without the protection of an umbrella or a hat. And the frequent power cuts are creating further problems for them. The people are reportedly requesting the government to ensure constant power supply so that they may be able to cope with the summer.
