Minister for Animal Husbandry Talasani Srinivas Yadav today announced that the distribution of free double bedroom houses under the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits would start on September 2.
Yadav held a meeting with GHMC Commissioner Ronald Rose, Hyderabad Collector Anudeep Durishetti, Medchal-Malkajgiri Collector S Harish, Rangareddy District Collector Amoy Kumar and GHMC Housing OSD Suresh at the Secretariat.
During the meeting, the minister directed the Collectors to make arrangements in their respective areas for the distribution of the double bedroom houses to the beneficiaries.
The distribution programs will be held at eight places in the GHMC limits on September 2, and in the first phase, houses would be distributed to 12,000 beneficiaries, Yadav said.
He said that in order to have transparency in the distribution of the houses, beneficiaries would be selected through a draw at the Hyderabad District Collector's office on August 24 using randomization software.
Yadav claimed that the Telangana government was building the double bedroom houses with all basic facilities including roads, drainage, water and electricity, and that nowhere else in the country had such facilities for the poor been put together.
