KCR To Hold Roundtable On KG-To-PG Free Education

The CM also decided that one residential school would be established in each Assembly constituency in the State.
Hyderabad | 22nd December 2014
The Telangana Government will conduct a round table conference to discuss the modalities of the implementation of the "KG to PG" free education scheme.

The decision was taken during a review meeting held at the State Secretariat on Monday by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao.

The meeting was also attended by Deputy Chief Minister Dr T Rajaiah, Education Minister Jagadish Reddy, Advisor to the Governor B V Papa Rao, Secretary to the CM S Narsing Rao, Consultant Devender Reddy, SCERT Director Jagannath Reddy, School Education Additional Director Gopal Reddy, OSD (Education) D Srinivas and other senior officials.

Addressing the meeting, the Chief Minister said that steps should be taken to improve the standards of education in Telangana, and that higher and quality education should be accessible to everyone, including the poorest of the poor.

He also said that a strategic and practical approach was needed to take a few decisions. For instance, the class from which English medium should be introduced; the suitable age for a child to be admitted to a hostel; and the standard of education and the teachers needed to impart free education. These issues would be discussed in the round table conference which would also be attended by education experts and officials, he said.

It was also decided that one residential school would be established in each Assembly constituency in the State. Each school would be established on 10-12 acres of land, and would have facilities like hostels, playgrounds, dining halls, quality food and other amenities.

The Chief Minister also proposed common syllabi, common exams and even a common menu for all the schools. (INN)

There are many teachers hailing from English medium background and I think that it would be great if they are given a chance to teach in kg to pg school.I have seen many in-service teachers who had appeared for model school recruitment but didn't join because of service rules.lets hope for the best.
