Government Orders Withdrawal Of School Textbooks, Workbooks
The State government on Thursday issued orders for the withdrawal of all the issued Telugu textbooks and SSC workbooks from the students of classes 1 to 10.
The State government on Thursday issued orders for the withdrawal of all the issued Telugu textbooks and workbooks from the students of classes 1 to 10.
Though the schools reopened on June 12, the textbooks were sent to students well in advance. However, a confusing situation arose with the education department printing the foreword of the previous BRS government without changing it.
In the foreword, K Chandrashekar Rao was mentioned as the Chief Minister and Sabitha Indra Reddy as the Education Minister, and the year was mentioned as 2015.
After learning about the mistake, the education department decided to take back all the issued textworks and workbooks - about 25 lakh in number.
It has been learnt that the government expressed anger over the mention of the former Chief Minister's name in textbooks, instead of that of the present Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.
Sources said that the Chief Minister turned serious over the negligence of the education department, and asked for a probe into the mistake.
Meanwhile, officials have said that new textbooks would be printed and distributed to the students soon.
