Cameraman Ganga Tho Rambabu Faces Telangana Ire

Dialogues comparing "Telugu Talli" and "Telangana Talli", and a few other lines, have reportedly angered pro-Telangana groups, who organised protests in many theatres across Telangana
Hyderabad | 19th October 2012
The sceening of Pawan Kalyan's latest film Cameraman Ganga Tho Rambabu was cancelled in many theatres in the Nizam region, including Hyderabad, following protests by pro-Telangana activists on Friday.

Dialogues comparing "Telugu Talli" and "Telangana Talli", and a few other dialogues, have reportedly angered pro-Telangana groups, who organised protests in many theatres.

While the screening of the movie was stopped in Kakatiya Theatre of Warangal district, a few students of Osmania University set film posters at Aaradhana Theatre (Tarnaka) on fire. The reels of the movie were also snatched away from a few theatres and set ablaze before the Arts College.

Similar protests were also held in cinema theatres in other districts of the Telangana region.

The protestors are demanding that the controversial dialogues be deleted from the Puri Jagannadh directed film. Cameraman... stars Pawan Kalyan, Tamannah, Prakash Raj and others.

The Telangana Advocates' JAC has also filed a petition before the State Human Rights Commission, demanding a ban on the movie.

Meanwhile, film director Puri Jagannadh and others clarified that there was no intention to hurt the sentiments of the people of Telangana. They also said that the controversial dialogues would be deleted.

However, the movie has received a rather good response at the box office in Andhra Pradesh, and in other parts of India and overseas. The film is expected to break the first day collection record of Pawan's blockbuster Gabbar Singh. Based on early trends, the film is expected to register collections of Rs. 15-20 crore at the worldwide box office on the first day of its release. (INN)
