Special Officer For TriValley Victims
The Indian government will appoint a special officer to look into the problems of the Tri-Valley University students who were affected by the closure of the universi
External Affairs Minister S M Krishna on Thursday stated that the Indian government will appoint a special officer to look into the problems of the Tri-Valley University students who were affected by the closure of the university.
The Minister gave this assurance when a delegation of Andhra Pradesh MPs called on him and appealed to him to address the problems of the Tri-Valley University students.
Krishna also responded positively to the demand of sending an MPs' delegation to the US to enable them to personally interact with the students.
The delegation appealed to the Minister to pursue the issue with US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton personally and make immediate efforts for solving the problem. It also mentioned how the parents of the affected students were quite worried over the careers of the students and their bright future.
After submitting a memorandum to the Minister, TDP MP Nama Nageswara Rao said that the Minister had agreed to appoint a special ambassador to look into the students' issue.
Rao alleged that the Centre was not making any efforts to stop the arrests and harassment of the Indian students, who are victims.
About 1,500 Indian students were affected by the closure of the Tri-Valley University in January, and the Indian authorities have so far reinstated more than 50 percent of the students in other varsities so that their academic careers would not be affected.

The news coming out reg TVU that US authorities allowed the students to take admission in other schools is totally incorrect also the options provided to the students are just a gimmick. Believing on the options if you contact SEVIS or ICE they will summon you and harass and issue NTA. I know a case where a student opted for VD and came back to India but when applied for new student visa in Hyderabad against proper I20, her application was rejected though her husband is staying in US and took the responsibility of our fee and stay. Any body can suggest alternatives/ options on this?
" the Indian authorities have so far reinstated more than 50 percent of the students in other varsities so that their academic careers would not be affected." this message is incorrect, Indian govt. is not taking proper action and none of the student got reinstated. ( not even 1 out of 1500)
