Telangana Congress leaders said that the ITIR project was critical for the development of the state's people, especially its unemployed youth, and alleged that the TRS government was ignoring it.
The Ranga Reddy District Congress Committee today held a meeting at Indira Bhavan in Gandhi Bhavan demanding the establishment of the ITIR project. Congress leaders Ponnala Laxmaiah, T Jeevan Reddy, Sabitha Indra Reddy, Gaddam Prasada Kumar, former MLA D Sudheer Reddy, Congress Kisan Cell chairman M Kodanda Reddy, DCC president Kyama Mallesh and others participated in the meeting.
Addressing the meeting, Jeevan Reddy alleged that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had failed to get the Centre to fulfill even a single one of the assurances made in the A P Reorganizaation Act. Terming the ITIR project wonderful, Reddy alleged that the government was neglecting it intentionally.
Former minister Sabitha Indra Reddy said that the people didn't want poisonous pharma companies and that the ITIR project would be hugely more beneficial, and called upon the Congress activists to launch a movement for the project and urged Jeevan Reddy to question the government in the Assembly on the project.
Sudheer Reddy alleged that the TRS government had forgotten about the ITIR project which was sanctioned for Ranga Reddy district. The government was coming forward to establish a pharma company in the same place now, he said, and claimed that the people would be affected by a pharma company. The Congress was opposing the establishment of a pharma company in the district, and would launch a movement against it, he said.
Congress leader Karthik Reddy slammed IT Minister K T Rama Rao for saying "arrogantly" that the Congress had done nothing for Hyderabad. He asserted that the Congress alone had developed Hyderabad, and had brought the Krishna waters to the city. He, too, alleged that the TRS government didn't spend a single rupee on the ITIR project.
