Hyderabad | 22nd October 2011
Over 2 dozen elected representatives from the Rayalaseema region have resolved to oppose the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.

Addressing a seminar organised by the Rayalaseema Hakkula Ikya Vedika at Maurya Hotel in Kurnool on Saturday, the leaders warned of serious consequences if the Centre decides in favour of the formation of Telangana.

Besides Minor Irrigation Minister and Vedika president T G Venkatesh, 24 MLAs and 4 MLCs from the Congress, TDP and YSR Congress Party participated in the seminar.

The speakers said that the people of Rayalaseema have made several sacrifices for the formation of Andhra Pradesh, and that they had even compromised on the state capital being shifted to Hyderabad from Kurnool.

Addressing the seminar, TDP MLA K E Krishna Murthy warned that the state would burn if the Centre decides in favour of Telangana.

He said that Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao has been trying to exploit Telangana sentiments for his personal gains.

Other leaders who addressed the seminar include MLAs P Keshava, Abdul Ghani, Srikanth Reddy and Bojjala Gopala Krishna Reddy.

A resolution was passed, asking the Centre to keep Andhra Pradesh integrated.

The Vedika also demanded that all pending projects in the Rayalaseema regions be completed soon.

The leaders asked the Centre to allocate 2% of its funds under the 12th Five Year Plan for the development of Rayalaseema. (INN)
