Tension prevailed at the Press Club at Basheerbagh with the Telangana Vidyarthi Parishat activists obstructing a convention scheduled by Samaikhya Andhra Samithi, which the latter conducted to demand the postponement of the Telangana March scheduled to be held in the State Capital on September 30.
When the Samaikhya Andhra activists began the convention appealing to Telangana Political Joint Action Committee chairman Prof M Kodandaram to defer the Telangana March in the wake of the biodiversity conference, the activists of Telangana Vidyarthi Parishat raised serious objections and had a heated argument with them. The Telangana activists stated that Seemandhra leaders have no right to organize a convention in the Telangana region, and asked them to stop the meeting.
They also warned the Seemandhra leaders of serious consequences if they go ahead with the convention seeking the postponement of the Telangana March. With the situation going out of control, the police rushed to the spot and arrested activists from both the sides to prevent untoward incidents. After the arrests, the convention ended abruptly.
