Finding fault with the statement by spiritual guru Sri Sri Ravishanker that India would turn into another Syria if a Ram Mandir was not constructed in the disputed site at Ayodhya, MIM chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi demanded that the government file a case against the former for his remarks.
Speaking to the media on Tuesday, Owaisi said that Ravishanker had no respect for the Constitution and did not have believe in the law.
"Ravishanker feel like he is a law onto himself. He thinks that everyone needs to do what he says. He is not behaving like a mediator, and is instead trying to instigate riots by creating differences between people of different religions. Why is the BJP not responding in this regard? I am ready to file a case against Ravishanker if the BJP is afraid of him," Owaisi said.
Meanwhile, Ravishanker offered an explanation for what he said. "It was not a warning - it was a precautionary suggestion," he said. "Some sections of people have distorted my words. I said that the conditions will resemble those in Syria in case the government failed to show a solution to the Ayodhya issue."
