Yadagirigutta police, on Sunday, conducted raids in the various lodges near the famous temple, and arrested 16 couples for indulging in 'indecent activities'.
According to Sub-Inspector K Shankar, the raids were conducted after some complaints were received that young couples were using the rooms in the lodges and hotels which had been built for the pilgrims of the famous hill shrine temple in Yadagirigutta, for amorous activities.
Shankar said that since the issue involved women who were 'coerced' into participation in the acts, no cases will be registered against them. However, the men will be produced in court and fines levied on them.
Shankar said that the women have been released on personal bonds. Shankar described the women as 'victims', and stuck to his words despite being pointed out that unless physically and forcibly dragged inside the rooms, they could not have been victims.
