The newly-formed YSR Telangana Party today was left shocked when leader Indira Shoban resigned from the party and released a letter to the media explaining the main reasons behind her resignation.
In her letter, the leader said that she had actively taken part in the Telangana agitation and that she received a lot of support from the people of the state throughout her long political career and added that she had given up her primary membership of the YSRTP and other posts in the party as she felt that it would not be possible for her to achieve her goals as a public representative if she continued her association with the party.
Shoban also clarified that she would continue to work for the welfare of each section of society till her last breath. Though she is yet to mention her exact plans for the future, she did state in her letter that she would soon announce her future course of action and that she would continue to serve the people of the state.
She then urged the people and her supporters to continue to support and bless her in the days to come.
The leader has submitted her resignation to party supremo Y S Sharmila.
Though reports that she would soon resign from the party had been doing the rounds for many days, Shobhan's resignation has come as a huge shock to Sharmila as she was instrumental in founding the YSRTP and had been working alongside Sharmila for over a year.
Meanwhile, rumours that she will return to the Congress soon have also been heard.
Last month, Pratap Reddy, who was in charge of the YSRTP for the erstwhile Mahabubnagar district, also resigned from the party claiming that senior leader Konda Raghava Reddy was the reason for his exit.
