The YSR Congress Party on Friday staged a walkout from the State Legislative Assembly in protest against the decline of their demand for a resolution in the House to keep the state united.
As soon as the House met at 9am on Friday, the YSRCP members trooped into the well stalling the proceedings.
YSRCP floor leader Y S Vijaya Lakshmi also gave a notice for an adjournment motion seeking the resolution on Samaikyandhra.
However, speaker Nadendla Manohar disallowed the adjournment motion.
When asked by the Speaker, the YSRCP members said that there is "no clarity" on the State Reorganisation Bill and hence, it cannot be discussed.
The Speaker questioned as to how the YSRCP is the only party that is raising objections to the discussion while all other parties are participating in the same.
Following uproar, the Speaker adjourned the House for half-an-hour.
Similar noisy scenes were witnessed when the House reassembled at about 10.32am.
Amidst the slogan raising by the YSRCP MLAs, the speaker allowed Vijay Lakshmi to speak on the subject.
Vijaya Lakshmi accused the Centre of "misusing" the Article 3 to divide the state.
She said that the Centre "did not take the sentiments of people of both the regions into consideration" while making a decision on the statehood.
She described the move as "undemocratic" and "unconstitutional".
She also expressed regret that the state government isn't willing to pass the resolution to keep the state united. In protest, she said that the YSRCP is staging a walk out from the House.
The YSRCP members also gave a copy of a memorandum to the Assembly Secretary S Raja Sadaram before coming out of the House, raising "Jai Samaikyandhra".
The TRS party members countered them by shouting "Jai Telangana". (INN)
