Mopidevi Venkata Ramana Resigns After Arrest
The CBI arrested him on Thursday, in connection with his role in the allotment of land to VANPIC during his stint in YSR's cabinet.

Following his arrest in the Y S Jagan disproportionate assets case, Excise Minister Mopidevi Venkata Ramana Rao resgined from his post on Thursday.
The CBI arrested him in connection with his role in the allotment of 13,000 acres of land in Guntur and Prakasam districts, to VANPIC, during his stint in the late YSR's cabinet. Mopidevi was in charge of land acquisition during YSR's reign.
He was arrested under sections 401, 420 and 427 of the Indian Penal Code.
Mopidevi sent his resignation letter to the governor, through PCC chief Botsa Satyanarayana. He was reportedly asked to resign, by his party.
Mopidevi Venkata Ramana will be presented in court at 4pm, after a medical examination.
Meanwhile, in Mopidevi's constituency Repalle, there have been reports of tension and some violence at the MRO office.
