Former Congress minister P Shankar Rao predicts victory for the YSR Congress in the Kovvur Assembly seat.

Former minister Dr. P Shankar Rao, on Thursday, predicted victory for YSR Congress candidate Nannapuneni Prasanna Kumar Reddy in Kovvur Assembly segment, in the ensuing by-elections.

Talking to media persons, Shankar Rao stated that the Dalits and Christians of the Seemandhra region would support Prasanna Kumar Reddy's candidature in the by-elections.

Stating that the election in the Kovvur Assembly constituency was mainly between YSR Congress and the Telugu Desam Party, he said that the Congress would finish in the 3rd place.

Shankar Rao described TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu as an "elder brother" and Jaganmohan Reddy as a "younger brother" to the people in coastal Andhra.

He also said that the people of Telangana were against Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao for his attitude on separate Telangana statehood.

Earlier, Shankar Rao and Chandrababu Naidu exchanged greetings when they met in the Assembly lobby. (INN)
